Toast & his team reached out as they were launching their music app with a big trailer (rebrand). Me & him were both EDM & tech nerds who bonded after realizing that we both got our start as teenagers building creative sideprojects on the interwebs (hell yeah). The idea we brainstormed was to represent old friends, separated by distance, reminiscing on the good times...

This viral project reached over 30,000,000+ views on YouTube and singlehandedly launched my fulltime music career. At the time, I was 16, and Discord was hosting a 4-day contest in 2019 for people to get creative. So, despite such a short deadline, I went ahead and remixed the notification sound into an absolute banger, and the rest was history.

Discord’s “Last Meadow” event was a fun limited-time in-app minigame, for which I also created lots of ear candy sound effects representing the different classes users could choose from. What I really loved about this project was that it gave me my first foray into orchestral styles. I rapidly had to improve at the use of tools like Kontakt libraries, for programming real instruments (strings, brass, etc.) and I found myself studying the incredibly deep but fun rabbit hole of orchestration & composing.

I took on this cyber-themed project as a sequel to the beloved “Ping!” remix of Discord’s notification sounds. This time, it’s insanely detailed, with a super hard-hitting beatdrop. Tons of cinematic elements woven in, especially later in the song, not to mention the beloved flute part. It reached over 5 million+ plays on YouTube and set a whole new standard for me as a creative.

I created this gritty beat during a difficult time in my life, and the result was a very dark but hard-hitting song featuring two completely different beatdrops. I dedicated it to one of my childhood games, Geometry Dash. The midsection is extremely cinematic and incorporates the main menu theme of that game, as well as the infamous “amen break”…

Every year’s spooky season, users in Discord get to hear the Halloween-themed sound effects & ringtone I created! Funny enough, during the making of the ringtone, my first draft was missing the mark until I received feedback that said “amp up the spooky factor by like x3-4” and I immediately understood the assignment. I dug deeper into the rabbit hole of Halloween music theory and ended up discovering amazing ways to… well, amp up the spooky factor… 👻

I was the composer & sound designer for Discord’s first ever “Checkpoint” event, an end-of-year recap to celebrate each user’s favorite activities & friendships in-app that year. They needed crispy sfx & background music: 80s vibes & CRT nostalgia. I quickly created 3 drafts for the addictively loopable song and they picked their favorite, which I then finished into a nostalgic masterpiece, incorporating clever references to Synthwave/Vaporwave & that one new year’s eve song (Auld Lang Syne)!

When the devs at Re-Logic announced a “Final update” to Terraria, I independently decided to create this fan remix out of love for the game. It features bits and pieces of the OST, notably the desert theme (I’m Egyptian and I have a weak spot for that flute)… In my childhood, I used to start playthroughs with my younger brother, looting & fighting bosses together =)

Cody approached me earlier this year for help with scoring this amazing animation, created for a Final Fantasy XI private server project he leads, “Phoenix”. I created the music for this animated trailer, as well as the upcoming grand opening one (coming soon).
